A Quick Overview of UK Standard Visitor Visa

Each year, millions of holidaymakers flock to the UK to explore its marvellous wonders which never cease to impress one and all. The thriving modern culture, incredible historical sites, and amazing places to eat and drink give enough reasons to plan a holiday here. Alike most countries, travellers planning to visit UK on a holiday need to apply for a tourist visa, officially known as the Standard Visitor Visa. This visa even allows the tourists to come to the UK for a variety of other reasons, including visiting family and friends, take private medical treatment, or to study (short duration).

One may apply for a UK visitor visa up to 3 months in advance of the date of travel to any city of the UK. The decision on the visa is taken within 3 weeks of the application. Once the application is approved, you can usually stay in the UK for up to 6 months or less. The stay may however be extended till 11 months if one is visiting for some medical treatment. Some extra fee has to be paid depending up on the length of the long term-visit visa.

The eligibility for applying a UK standard visitor visa completely depends upon; you must be able to show that you will leave the UK at the end of your visit, you are self-dependent for the trip, you have enough money to take a onward and return ticket, and you won’t do any activity during the trip not allowed by the Visitor Rules.
